The journey of my third iteration…

I learned to turn while working at the museum in their maker space. It started when I was sent to a maker fair and saw that the local library was letting folks make pens with their lathe. Being an avid fountain pen user, and wanting to make my own, I asked my boss if we could get a lathe. He said, “Yes, and we can use it during the Halloween season to make wands as an activity.” (I’m paraphrasing there, but you get the idea: wands, not so much pens.) And so we got the lathe, I studied some videos, and started making wand blanks for the kids to turn for the activity. Then I started making wands for my friends. I got pretty good at making wands. So good that I joked that if I were to ever leave the museum I would start up a business making wands.

Well, I did and I am.

But it didn’t end there. Once I got a lathe of my own, I was finally able to start making pens too. And then it was only a short jump to combining the two. I mean, who wouidn’t want to add a bit of magic to their writing?

Now I’m making wands, pens, wand pens, and more. And the magic flows through them all.
